Buying checklist
Laser engraver buying checklist: what to confirm before you order
A documentation checklist to fill in before you order: one list per product type, built from what the exact listing and the manufacturer manual must tell you. It is not a safety assessment, a material approval or a performance estimate.
Laser engravers
Match the intended material and project to the exact machine manual. Check enclosure, extraction, work area, software and local installation requirements before choosing.
- The materials and the largest object you plan to engrave or cut
- Laser type (diode, CO2, fiber or dual) and the lowest explicit laser output in the listing
- Stated work area against your largest workpiece, with its fixture
- Enclosure or laser class, the safety glasses included and their wavelength
- Extraction route: an exhaust to the outside or a filter unit, and where it will stand
- Software named by the manufacturer and the computer or app it needs

Engraver accessories
Match accessories to the exact machine model and generation. Verify dimensions, mounting points and manufacturer instructions; a shared brand name does not prove compatibility.
- The exact machine model and generation the accessory lists
- Dimensions, mounting points and the riser height a rotary may need
- Diameter range of a rotary against your smallest and largest object
- Airflow, filter stages and replacement filters of a fume extractor
- What is in the box: nozzle, tubing, clamps or adapters

Engraving materials
Confirm the precise material composition and manufacturer approval for your machine. An engraving blank listing does not establish that it is suitable for laser processing.
- Exact material composition stated by the supplier (no PVC, vinyl or unknown plastics)
- Thickness, sheet size and pack count against your work area
- Coating or anodized layer, and whether your laser type can mark it
- A scrap piece for a settings grid before the whole batch

Before committing to a setup
- Define the material, project size and workspace.
- Check the manufacturer’s enclosure, extraction, operating and installation instructions.
- Confirm software, accessories, listing contents and unresolved compatibility questions.
If a question stays open, pause the purchase until you have the exact documentation. Do not interpret a listing title or a product photo as evidence of safe operation.
